The value of a good camping stove
Camping stoves are the most useful type of stove as they tend to be generally portable, although the size of the camping stove makes a significant difference in how mobile it is in practice. A larger cookstove allows food to be prepared faster than a single burner stove.
Many camping ovens run on propane, although kerosene, butane and gasoline powered stoves are available. Coleman manufactures some multi fuel options which can run from either a propane cannister or liquid fuels. Alternatives include the barbeque, which is essentially a firepit and not overly portable.
Another option is the solar oven. These are effective in daylight, and varying degrees of success may be required if the weather in your area is less than optimal. A solar oven does have the advantage of not requiring its own power source. This is a large advantage that makes it worth considering as a backup or primary cooking option.
If you opt for a grill I strongly suggest a coal barbeque over a propane grill as in a pinch wood can be charred and used as a cooking medium. Propane deliveries are a potential uncertainty, as indicated by the high demand level for fuel cannisters on the list. A barbeque tends to be more practical in a static position, so if there is any chance you will need mobilility, please take this into consideration.
