Important Equipment

Having a ready made pack, also known as a go kit  and the ability to travel at a moment's notice marks you as the kind of person who is ready for any situation.   This kind of kit is also extremely useful for camping.
This setup shows a survival kit that is cost conscious and yet gives you everything you need.

Kit contains

knife, med kit, canteen, magnesium strip, hatchet waterproof, matches, sas survival guide, mess kit, water filter, emergency flashlight, bivvy sack, sleeping bag, backpack, camp shovel, utility knife. These cover your equipment essentials.   I would also reccommend adding these inexpensive items: fishing line, treble hook, a few large plastic trash bags, compact high energy food, bug spray, some vitamins (see the accessories page for more suggestions)

You can order any of these go kit items which you don't have yet online by scrolling down.  Alternatively you can check out some of our other kits.   This kit has a total cost in the neighborhood of $350 from online suppliers.  We are in the process of organizing a minimalist kit, a high quality kit, an accessories package, and a set which covers some niceties like tents, cookstoves and so forth.

If there is more that you think this kit needs add it in the comments

Essential Gear

The store itself is organized into the various links at the top of the page (and in some cases the sidebar). This is so that specific goods can be found with similar and related items which serve the same or related purposes.  This tool provides a quick visual overview of a few important pieces of equipment that  you might want for a basic go kit.

essential gear, survival equipment store, fire axe, assault pack, tactical medical kit

These are some essential pieces of gear. While many tools can be improvised, these are very versatile, vital pieces of equipment which are not easily replaceable

Having the right gear is vital in a survival situation.  Throughout this site there are a number of areas which contain equipment of a specialized nature. this section contains an array of useful equipment that you may need, and may find particularly vital in almost any situation.  This includes an efficient fire axe which doubles as a general entry tool, an assault pack, a fire starting kit and of course  a tactical medical kit.

Each page has items and some insight into why those items are useful and some thoughts about how they incorporate into various survival strategies.

Equipment List

Good equipment to keep you ready for any situation.  These items are in the survival equipment store.  The reasons for selection of each piece of gear are discussed here for clarity,

Fire Axe

The fire axe is a critical piece of gear. It can serve as an entry device, a piece of fire safety equipment, and a perfectly designed tool for combating trees in the quest for fire wood.

Emergency Water Filter

More people succumb to thirst than to hunger. Obtaining drinkable water in a survival situation can be absolutely vital to surviving. This is a piece of good equipment which fits readily in your pack.

Assault Backpack

Well balanced, designed for versatility. The assault backpack is the survival gear that makes all of your other gear portable. Designed for load balance and versatility, a tactical backpack is the right gear.

Bivvy Bag

A shelter in and of itself, a bivouac sack usually is used to provide an extra layer of insulation and weather protection to a sleeping bag. With a bivvy bag you can bunker down anywhere and be protected from the elements.

Magnesium Stick

Magnesium burns with intense heat and once lit will start a fire under almost any conditions. Shave the stick with a knife and then light. Use caution, the heat is intense, but it will get a fire started even with wet wood.

Sleeping Bag

Higher end models are available, but this surplus military sleeping bag can handle cold temperatures at a cost effective price.

SAS Survival Handbook

An essential piece of literature, and worth making space for in your pack. Gives the information you need to stay alive under nearly any circumstances. Contains references on hunting, trapping, shelter, moving under cover and other important information.

Disaster Preparedness Kit

A wealth of small but essential pieces of gear to augment your existing supplies or cover gaps in your own go kit. Pick and choose the pieces you want for your pack, that best fit your situation. Alternately keep the kit in your car or home, so its always ready.
