It has been said that with duct tape, and wd-40 you can fix anything. Jb-weld would be another worthy addition to that list. While that may only be partially true, duct tape is a truly amazing substance.

| In an emergency duct tape goes fast, simply because it is so useful. You can use it to fashion straps, secure things, its even used to patch cars during Nascar races. Splints can be held together with duct tape in an emergency, and it can even be used for patching a tarp or holding together a nearly destroyed pair of shoes. If it needs held together, chances are duct tape is up to the job. |

As the modern and improved version of string, duct tape is adhesive, and water resistant if applied to a dry surface. Its wind resistant and wide enough to attach most objects or secure them in one way or another. While not really designed for permanant use, it can make a great stopgap tool when you need to get something to stick.

Originally duct tape was sold in a grey-silver color to match duct work, the purpose for which it was originally designed. Yes, its designed to hold metal fixtures together and block airflow gaps. Modern duct tape comes in many colors, and can be very bright for marking paths or drawing attention to a point, or very subdued in black, camouflage and clear colors.

There are several manufacturers of duct tape and you will have to look at in depth reviews to really get a feel for the strengths and weaknesses of each brand. There are high and low adhesion varieties which are suitable for different purposes.
