Fire wood chopping tools and emergency forced entry equipment

Wood Splitting tools for harvesting and entry

Axes and saws have a variety of uses.  Whether you are splitting wood, harvesting wood for fires or construction, each tool has a use.  Fireaxes can also be great for fighting fires or gaining rapid entry into an area.   Unlike chainsaws, hand tools do not require fuel to be effective.  Any serious camping trip or survival mission needs to have at least one axe to minimize energy expenditure and maximize the ability to stay warm when the elements inevetibly change.

Wood Harvesting
A versitile selection based on portability and utilitarian value.  These tools are efficient for handling your wood gathering expeditions,

If you are not familiar with wood harvesting, then its easy enough to learn, just be sure to familiarize yourself with the safety materials for each items.    Axes and mauls can bounce and wood can splinter.     These are very solid practical wood harvesting tools and should be cared for properly.

The ability to gather wood from the forest or to salvage it from existing structures can make a huge difference in your ability to not only stay warm but construct fortifications and shelters.

If you are re-harvesting wood from an urban environment be aware that most building materials are coated with a significant amount of chemicals including paints, varnishes, insecticides and other substances.   Fumes from these have the potential to be hazardous and may  spread unwanted chemicals to foods cooked on them.   It may be a major advantage to burn in open areas, stay upwind, use breathing protection.   This type of wood can be burned until it is in the coal stage and may be safer to use at that stage.

For this reason  you ideally you are able to gather natural wood source from wilderness areas where possible.   Be aware of any relevant regulations concerning both wood gathering and fire safety if you are doing this in an environment where those factors apply..
