Survival Fishing
Fishing equipment can be the key to survival, if you have access to lakes, rivers, or even ocean beaches.  Kits are selected for various types of fishing that you may encounter.

fly fishing is an advanced skill.
If you are not a proficient fisherman, it is recommended that you use a traditional fishing line and lure or treble hook approach
Cleaning fish is dirty work but someone has to do it.   If you're eating your fish, its always nice to have tools to remove hooks and clean fish efficiently.
100 feet across and nine feet deep this net from Florida Nets is large enough to require is own pack or carrying case, but undeniably useful if you are set up on a river site

FISHING NETS
If its a long season and the fish are spawning, a net can get a massive increase of food along a river.   Fish can be dried or smoked to last for a long time.   Using nets for this purpose under normal circumstances is illegal in most jurisdictions.
Nets are also useful for camouflage (weave in sticks and twigs), various snare traps and can be improvised into hammocks when sleeping above the ground level is desired.
Other uses for nets include rigging them as a makeshift hammock, using them for trapping game or birds (although this takes some skill), and as a low profile defensive measure that can cause an infiltrator to stumble, make noise and possibly become ensnared.    Also usable for a blockade device when you want to cordon off a game trail and make passage more difficult for potential intruders.

A variant of the fishing net is of course the much lighter mesh that is used for mosquito netting.   If you are in the tropics or in a place where there is a high density of insects you will want this as a feature in any tent or makeshift outpost where you would like to limit the smaller natural invaders
FISHING EQUIPMENT
fishing equipment such as nets can be useful for long term survival situations, a collapsable pole has the advantage of being easily portable within a backpack.  Other accessories can increase your chances of getting a good catch.  Fish makes a fine meal and can be roasted in foil over a simple campfire
