| Tools are important as they give the ability to do things that otherwise would be difficult or impossible. In the early stages of a society changing event, power tools are very useful, especially if the means to power them are available. In the later stages, the realization often comes that manually operated tools have distinct advantages. When there is no power coming into the power socket, a power tool is suddenly obsolete. Things like batteries and fuel powered generators reach the end of their life cycle or are no longer available. Tools that are of the greatest importance are construction tools, repair tools, resource gathering tools (for long term food production) and anything which helps to maintain a steady supply of clean drinking water. |
